We remember hearing this song for the first time when we travelled to Phoenix to see the Rolling Stones at Sun Devil Stadium in 1997 for the Bridges to Babylon tour. Another sidebar was a fire broke out backstage that could be seen from the audience during Sympathy for the Devil adding a macabre effect to the event.

We vividly remember being amazed at the “full monty” stage that truly incorporated the “BRIDGES” concept we observed for the first time in Phoenix.

The tour had opened here in Chicago at Soldier Field in late September of 1997 but my buddies at Jam had told me that the stage set up could not be fully engaged in time for the tour opening so when we jetted to Phoenix it was an amazing sight to behold compared to what we remembered in Chicago. And this song was debuted in Phoenix, another great rock n roll memory 🙂
