Buddy Guy may be 87, but he still has the energy of the day when he was just 21 playing on the streets of Chicago battling the likes of Magic Sam and Otis Rush to gain the attention of Muddy Waters. He’s been out this year on his “Damn Right Farewell Tour,” although his daughter Vicky calls it his “not-quite-farewell tour” which was scheduled to run through next May. Unfortunately he’s had to postpone some dates, “to focus on his health and wellness,” per a post on his Facebook page, his team noting it was a “standard medical issue.” With that, the tour dates have been rescheduled and will extend easily into August of next year. Plans are still in place for his annual month-long residency at his Buddy Guy’s Legends club in Chicago in January. Recently CBS Correspondent Kelefa Sanneh talked with Guy about his blues journey. He also sits down with three of Guy’s children to discuss the musicianship they’ve inherited.
